Polyset® Hurricane Survivability

August 13, 2004 | Charlotte Harbor, Florida

What would have been an ordinary Friday night, just about the time weary workers would be heading home, Hurricane Charley became Florida’s newest and nastiest transient. Slamming into the the west coast of Florida with sustained winds near 140 mph, Charley unleashed even greater fury, gusting up to 170 mph.

Thankfully, residents heeded the call to evacuate. Structures and possessions remained to face Charley head-on. Even with the best of preparations, the sheer forces at work are hard to comprehend. The devastation afterwards testifies to the violent energy expended.

The Burnt Store Marina, pictured above – after Charley’s visit – shows how well the Polyset® Professional Tile Roofing System performs, even under such extreme conditions. The tiles on the roofs of the marina are adhered by the polyurethane foam paddies of the Polyset® system, and have been thoroughly engineered and tested to withstand hurricane force winds. The Polyset® roofing system has proven itself time and again, enduring hurricanes and typhoons, keeping roof tiles in place, convincing architects, contractors, building owners and homeowners to request the assurance of performance a Polyset® roof provides.

Punta Gorda Isles – Center of the Storm

The Polyset® roof on this house in Punta Gorda Isles, one of the most heavily damaged areas, shows how well the tiles fared through the extreme conditions. The minimal damage (see detail below) was the result of a broken branch impact.
